Abstract

The parton-model result $\ensuremath{\nu}{W}_{2}(x)=\ensuremath{\Sigma}{i}^{}{{e}_{i}}^{2}x{f}_{i}(x)$ is derived for massive quarks in the case where partons are identified as quarks. A simple model of a bound-quark system is also given in order to illuminate the ideas behind the derivation.
