Abstract

Summary A simple steamflood material balance derived from a two-zone reservoir model is presented. Alternative forms of the material balance include the effects of an initial hydrocarbon gas saturation, PV compressibility, and a hot-water zone. In example applications, the material balance is used to calculate the amount of fluid migration from a 16-pattern steamflood pilot and the steam injection rate within a regular five-spot pattern.
