Comparison of Scores on the Cognitive Levels Test and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test—Revised

Abstract

The Cognitive Levels Test and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test—Revised were administered to 30 freshman college students at a small state college in the mid-Atlantic region. The correlations between the two tests were significant (median = .52; range = .46 to .64). This suggested that the PPVT-R measures a component of the CLT. The mean Peabody score was significantly higher than the Cognitive Levels Test means. Implications of these results were discussed.
