Abstract

Subcommittee A of the American Society for Testing and Materials Committee D-2 began studying the suitability of Specification D 439 for gasoline-oxygenate blends in December 1978. An information document on gasohol was published November 1980 and revised March 1981. A Proposed Specification for Gasohol and Leaded Gasohol was published May 1981. A standard specification for both gasoline and gasoline-oxygenate blends received too many negative votes. A proposed specification for both gasoline and gasoline-oxygenate blends is now under development. Specification D 439 will be modified to recognize the existence of gasoline-oxygenate blends and will refer to the proposed specification for applicability of test methods and additional requirements for blends.
