Abstract
For communication modules a rectangular waveguide interface is often required. A novel transition between a rectangular waveguide and a coplanar waveguide is presented in this paper. The transition is fully uniplanar, making it very interesting for module applications. The benefits are the fairly simple manufacturing process and the reduced effort on the substrate side since no vias are needed. An insertion loss of 1.2 dB is obtained with broadband behavior over the waveguide frequency range.
