Comparison of Celescope magnitudes with model-atmosphere predictions for A, F, and G supergiants.

Abstract

Ultraviolet data from OAO-2 are analyzed with respect to three different sets of model atmospheres. We find that (1) A( A2 supergiants are in good agreement with model atmospheres; (2) late A and early F supergiants are fainter than predicted, requiring very heavy line absorption andlor additional continuous opacity sources; and (3) the two GO supergiants are considerably brighter than expected, implying a B-type companion in one case (HR 4511) and chromospheric emission in the other (HR 2786).
