Abstract
In Madhya Pradesh, black-arm caused by Xanthomonas malvacearum is the main disease affecting American cotton. Most of the improved varieties of cotton are damaged every year by this disease. The main source of inoculum causing primary infection of the disease is infected seed used for sowing. Tarr (1956) and Wickens (1957) have reported some fungicides effective against it. An experiment was conducted to test some more fungicides for their effect on germination of cotton seed and on primary infection of the disease.
