Abstract

To the Editor.— Since I have encountered several patients who reported favorable effects using propranolol hydrochloride on demand for migraine, I have prescribed propranolol hydrochloride at onset of headache in varying doses from 20 to 40 mg every four hours as needed. Favorable effects have been found in several patients. Further data are being gathered prospectively, but with these encouraging preliminary results, I suggest that "propranolol as needed" be added to the therapeutic armamentarium for migraine.
