Abstract
The microstructure and mechanical properties of low-cost Ti-2.3Cr-1.3Fe alloy were studied at different solution temperatures. In this study, the analysis methods of optical microscope, X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used. Beta phase and alpha phase are observed in the microstructure of alloy, and the volume of beta phase increases with the increases of solution temperature. The solution temperature has a little effect on the mechanical properties of Ti-2.3Cr-1.3Fe alloy. The values of tensile strength (Rm) are from 720 to 740 MPa, and the elongation rates (A) are above 20%. The strength–plasticity of low-cost Ti-2.3Cr-1.3Fe alloy could be improved with different heat treatments. SEM morphologies of tensile fracture of Ti-2.3Cr-1.3Fe alloy show that the fracture modes of the alloy after solution treatment are mainly ductile fracture.
