SUMMARYThe meiotic process of the males of the four Iberian species of Triturus has been studied. Sharp differences have been observed particularly as regards the chiasma frequency, while populations of the same species do not reflect any significant difference. Moreover, we have tested the hypothetic non existence of chiasma terminalization in these species by analyzing diplotene and metaphase I plates.
