Abstract
Synopsis Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and 2,2‐dichloropropionic acid (dalapon) can be used to control annual weedy grasses in new seedings of grass‐legume mixtures. The forage grasses in the mixture are injured by these heribicides but orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata) and timothy (Phleum pratense) are relatively resistant to injury and usually regain normal growth during the same growing season. The herbicidal value of different materials should be measured by the improved quality and quantity of the hay produced in the seeding year.
