Abstract

Conflict is beneficial. Modern managers believe that conflict can be used for the benefit of their organizations. This paper discusses how managers can beneficially manage conflict; explores the background of conflict management; and probes existing theories of conflict management. The work of earlier management scientists is researched and synthesized to develop practical suggestions on conflict‐handling orientations. The impact of management approaches on business and national institutions is examined. Favorable conflict‐resolution strategies are presented, and a final emphasis is placed on the integrator style of conflict management for effective conflict resolution.
