Abstract

The leaf essential oil of Calyptranthes pittieri Standl. (Myrtaceae), from Costa Rica, was isolated by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC-MS. A total of 22 compounds were identified in the leaf oil accounting for 98.1% of the total composition. The most abundant components of the essential oil of C. pittieri were linalool (54.6%), trans-2-hexenal (24.4%), α-terpineol (6.3%), and terpinen-4-ol (4.6%).
