Abstract

This paper considers how public support of federal form of government is important for maintaining stability of a federal state. A study of public opinion in several federal systems, including the Russian Federation, revealed that public support is an essential element of the federalist political culture and has a determining influence on the nature and stability of political systems. It is mentioned that the federalist culture in Russian is practically unformed, and to speak about the prospects of federalism is quite difficult.
