Abstract
An isospectral problem is established by means of a sub-algebra of loop Lie algebra à 1 , from which the coupled AKNS–Kaup–Newell soliton hierarchy is derived. Subsequently, the integrable expanding model, i.e. integrable coupling, is constructed through enlarging the corresponding loop algebra into the loop Lie algebra à 2 .
