The “Dry” Silver Method and Its Proper Use

Abstract

SYNOPSIS. The “dry” silver method is redescribed with special attention to the possible difficulties encountered in its use. This method first revealed the silverline or neuroformative system of the ciliates, and is considered the best method for the demonstration of this structure. The valuable results obtainable with this technique are pointed out and illustrated with appropriate photomicrographs.
