Abstract

The aim of this paper is seen as a means of enlarging the understanding of the readers of The Australian Surveyor on the place of the chartered land surveyor in many spheres of activity, in many countries. Initially a brief outline is given of the history of the land surveyor in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and this is followed by a description of various aspects of the Land Surveyors Division within the Institution. The concluding section briefly describes some of the spheres of activity of the chartered land surveyor.
