Abstract

A Doppler velocity signature of large shear coincident with tornado location has been discovered in an Oklahoma thunderstorm. The gate‐to‐gate tangential shear (GGS) signature is used to draw conclusions concerning vertical depth of the tornado vortex and its apparent descent from storm mid‐levels to the surface.
