Abstract
Aiming to minimize the average call blocking probability while maximize the utilization of system resources, a joint call admission control based on dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA-JCAC) algorithm is proposed, which can be well applied to the environment of heterogeneous wireless networks. First, proper quality utility functions are built according to the different QoS requirements and characteristics of services. Then compute the blocking probability weights by predicting the influences of selecting different access networks with certain allocated bandwidth for each service. The optimum DBA-JCAC decision is obtained by mapping the problem of call admission control and bandwidth allocation to the optimum solution that maximizes the overall utility function under the QoS requirements and bandwidth capacity constraints. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can respond to the change of network state rapidly and dynamically while guaranteeing the QoS requirements of different services, which enables it to achieve better performance by effectively allocating the available resources and reducing the average call blocking probability of the overall heterogeneous network system.
