Abstract

A grid version of a trigonometric functional basis is proposed. It is aimed at providing high-order approximation of smooth and piecewise-smooth functions. A comparative analysis of this basis and a polynomial one is done. The trigonometric version offers considerable advantages over the polynomial basis.
