Abstract
Monosomic analyses of two homozygous, temperature sensitive dwarf lines were made by crossing each to the complete Chinese Spring monosomic series.Marquillo-Timstein was found to carry genes controlling dwarfism on chromosomes 1A, 2A, 2B, 2D and 3D whereas the variety Marquillo-Kenya Farmer possesses dwarfing genes on chromosomes 2A, 4B and 2D. The major difference between the two dwarfs appears to be due to differences on chromosome 4B.Study of height variation within each of the deficient F2 populations revealed that height inheritance is more complex than dwarfism and that the genes that influence dwarf frequency also influence the height of the non-dwarf portion of the segregating population.
