Abstract
As a crucial part of rainwater utilization engineering, the design of the cistern size has a great influence on the project investment and efficient operation of systems. In this study, the mathematical models of relationship among the effective volume, investment and water-saving benefits are established based on the rainfall data of typical year. With the help of these models, we can calculate the effective volume of rainwater cisterns, then analyze the engineering benefits and demonstrate the feasibility of the project. So this paper offers reference for the effective volume determination of rainwater cistern in city districts.
