Abstract
All extraocular muscles are surrounded by connective tissue sheaths. It has been shown that the architecture of these sheaths shows regional differences closely correlated with the changes in configuration during muscle contraction. the muscle sheath is in direct connection with the muscle itself and with the orbital connective tissue system. these principles are demonstrated in the musculus rectus medialis.
