Abstract
The procedures adopted in the design of a reverberation test suite to be located in a noisy industrial area are presented. The acoustical specifications of the facility necessary to enable sound-power measurement evaluations of fluorescent-tube lighting ballast units are briefly reviewed. Objective noise data obtained on site prior to construction are given, and this information, in conjunction with desirable internal acoustical criteria, is employed to derive acoustical insulation specifications. The procedures adopted in the determination of these specifications are presented. The architectural and economic implications of the insulation requirements are examined and preliminary architectural schematics of the construction are described. An outline is given of the methodology used for site supervision during the construction process and of the planned testing for contractor compliance on the completed facility.
