Abstract
Saint Louis and Saint Francis - Offering a series of convergent examples, this paper examines the relationship between the figure of Saint Francis and that of Saint Louis, considered from the standpoint of their respective biographers. The biographers of Saint Louis have obviously above all retained the figure of Saint Francis as it was drawn and reinvented by Saint Bonaventura, who emphasized Francis's identification with the human Christ and his sufferings on the cross ; in Francis's own writings, on the contrary, one can clearly perceive how the saint identifies himself with the benevolent figure of God the Father.
