Abstract

Lindane, aldrin, heptachlor, and chlordane were tested for the control of three species of Brachyrhinus strawberry root weevil. Each insecticide was mixed with soil low in organic matter before setting the plants. Each of the first three was applied at the rates of 2½, 5, and 10 pounds actual per acre; the chlordane at 5, 10 and 20 pounds. After 5 years, the lindane was not giving control, the chlordane was beginning to fail, and the aldrin and heptachlor were still effective.
