Nomenclatural and taxonomic changes in the classification of "green" algae

Abstract

The current classification of "green" algae of the Ukraine is presented. The system confirms the morphological-cytological and molecular-biological results of previous studies. A new family Bracteacoccaceae (Sphaeropleales, Chlorophyceae) is described. An independent family Scotiellocystoidaceae (Chlorococcales, Chlorophyceae) is further described and certain nomenclatural changes at the species and infraspecific levels among coccoid green algae are given.
