Abstract

It is demonstrated that a rapid variation of the electric current in a cylindrical conductor is accompanied by redistribution of the current density and field strength in the conductor cross section. At the stage of increase, the current flows primarily in the surface layer, while at the stage of decrease, the current density can be maximum in internal regions of the conductor. At the time instants corresponding to the maximum current, the current density tends to a homogeneous distribution.
