Abstract

We report the detection of an X-ray outburst from the old nova GK Per at a time when the object had brighted optically by ~ 1 mag. The outburst is interpreted in terms of an increased rate of accretion of material from the secondary via Roche-lobe overflow on to the white dwarf of the system.
