Abstract

In previous papers describing the response of the cerebellar cortex to the faradic current, it has been claimed that the individual lobes showed localized reactions. Thus, in the vermis when the anterior lobe was stimulated the posterior muscles of the neck contracted; when the posterior lobe was excited, the response was in the anterior muscles of the neck, and the middle lobe of the vermis rotated the head and eyes toward the side that was irritated. In the hemisphere the middle lobe was concerned with lateral flexion of the head, while the posterior lobe was in relation with the back and the extremities—the para-median lobe with the fore leg, the paraflocculus anterior with the hind leg and tail, the posterior region with the fore leg and the median region with the back. The ventral lobes, the uvula, the nodule and the lingula are associated with the lips, tongue, throat, larynx
