The detection of linear polarization in the 2 .2-micron radiation from the Galactic Centre is reported. The polarization amounts to 8.1 ±1.5 per cent at a position angle of |$+\,12.5\,\pm \,{7}^{^{\circ}}$|. The position angle coincides with that observed for visible stars in the same region of sky. Polarization by aligned interstellar dust grains may account for the observation.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
