Abstract

In 1977, there were about 254 beaver families in Poland. Most of them inhabit the tributary streams to the Niemen and Pergola Rivers in NE Poland. This situation makes it difficult for the beavers to penetrate into the central part of Poland. In 1976 and 1977, experimental reintroduction of beavers were started, into the basin of the Vistula River.
