Abstract

A total of 168 plants representing 41 families has been screened for saponins, alkaloids, flavornoids, and tannins. The number of positive tests obtained was 114 (70%) for alkaloids, 108 (64%) for tannins, 103 (61%) for flavonoids and 81 (48%) for saponins.
