Abstract
A highly efficient space and labor saving technique for culturing barley seedlings is described. The seeds are planted at the top edge of 2″ x 3″ blotter “sandwiches”. The bottom ends of the “sandwiches” are wedged in slots in polyethylene racks sitting in trays of water. The trays are placed in a small plastic growth chamber for uniform seedling growth. The seedling length is measured on a board covered with metric system graph paper. This technique has been successfully used for determining growth of seedlings from mutagen‐treated barley seeds.
