Treatment of seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp and dandruff with a shampoo containing 1% bifonazole (Agispor shampoo)

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common chronic skin disease. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of bifonazole 1% shampoo (Agispor shampoo), a new antifungal product, in patients with seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp and dandruff. An open study evaluated the clinical efficacy of bifonazole 1% shampoo. Of 255 patients treated, 91% achieved a successful clinical outcome. The drug was well tolerated. Few side-effects, mainly mild localized itch, were reported.
