Abstract

This textbook discusses transportation infrastructure engineering from a multimodal viewpoint. Transportation modes covered include highways, railroads, water transportation, air transportation, and public transit. The nine major chapter headings are as follows: (1) Overview of Transportation; (2) Transportation Systems Models; (3) Human, Vehicle, and Travelway Characteristics; (4) Transportation Capacity Analysis; (5) Transportation Planning and Evaluation; (6) Geometric Design of Travelways; (7) Structural Design of Travelways; (8) Transportation Safety; and (9) Intelligent Transportation and Information Technology.
