Abstract
Insertion of a liquid hydrogen target into a heavy liquid bubble chamber combines some of the advantages of the hydrogen bubble chamber (production on free proton) with that of the heavy liquid bubble chamber (detection and measurement of neutral particles). Two different targets adapted to experiments with 8 GeV/c π− and 16 GeV/c π− are described. They have been used successfully for two experimental runs, which provided 350 000 photographs, in the École Polytechnique 1-m bubble chamber.
