Abstract
This is the first of several intended papers which will examine cepheid light curves in detail. The results of high-speed differential photometry of the classical cepheid TT Aquilae are presented here. The purpose for undertaking these observations is to investigate the detailed structure of irregularities in what are usually assumed to be normal cepheid light curves. Recent theoretical investigations of cepheid light curves by Adams, Castor, and Davis (1980), Carson et al. (1981), and King et al. (1981) suggest that during rising light, cepheids may undergo abrupt changes in their light. This has been attributed as an artifact of the artificial vis-
