To the Editor: We read with interest the article by Bergethon et al.1 The observed improvements are good news for all involved in treatment of familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy (FAP). However, if the improvements in motor function are due to improved nerve function, the results should be detectable by EMG. Published results of EMG examination before and after transplantation so far do not shown any marked improvement in FAP patients' nerve function.
