Abstract
A new effective-temperature calibration has been derived on the basis of (a) a recent recalibration of the absolute flux of a Lyr, (b) new continuum-flux observations for the bright, hot stars, and (c) new lineblanketed stellar models. With the new data, effective temperatures derived from the slope of the Paschen continuum are in agreement with those from the Balmer discontinuity. Moreover, for Vega the two continuum indicators and the Ha, Hp, and H profiles are all in excellent agreement with a model having T = 9650 K and log g = 4.05. Parameters = 10200, log g = 4.35 for Sirius models give satisfactory agreement with the observed continuum fluxes, H-line profiles, and measured angulai diameter.
