Abstract
Ifyour college or university could offer only one course in communication and the college of business and the college of engineering required their students to take that one course, what communication course would you recommend? Instructors who are teaching a business communica-tion course would undoubtedly say &dquo;a business com-munication course.&dquo; Instructors who are teaching a technical writing course would doubtless recommend &dquo;a technical writing course.&dquo; What does the author of the text you are using believe that your students are going to write when they are on the job? What do you believe that your students will write? What do the results of research studies indicate that they will write?
