Abstract
Differential cross sections for the elastic and inelastic scattering of α-particles from 20Ne and 24Mg were calculated, using HF wave functions that had previously been used for (p, p') calculations. We do not use projected wave functions, but we do require consistency between the elastic and inelastic form factors. The result is that although the HF solutions are unable to fit the data, the discrepancy is significantly less than that found in (p, p') calculations.
