Synovial Fluid Analysis in the Investigation of Canine Joint Disease

The technique for collecting a sample of synovial fluid from a joint was described in an article in the last issue (Veterinary Nursing, January 1995, pp 12–14), as were the characteristics and composition of normal synovial fluid in the dog. In the event of joint disease, the synovial fluid undergoes various changes; as such, its analysis can provide valuable diagnostic information.
