Experimental studies of a Laue-Laue double-crystal monochromator for x-radiation have been conducted. It has been shown that a high-frequency ultrasonic wave can be used to adjust reflectivity of the monochromator and significantly increase its maximum throughput. In the particular case of a quartz Laue-Laue double-crystal monochromator the throughput can be increased more than six times with simultaneous broadening of the monochromator rocking curve width of three-and-a-half times. The new monochromator system is of potential interest for x-ray applications that require adjustment of the flux and energy resolution.
