Abstract

Abstract Germacrene‐B was identified as a major component of the oil obtained from cultivar II of patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth.). Compared with the standard patchouli oil, from cultivar I, the oil has a distinct aroma owing to the occurrence of germacrene‐B. The chemogenetic relationship between these cultivars is discussed.
