Abstract
A novel configuration for a multiplexer which can drop and add desired wavelength channels while transmitting other channels is proposed based on an arrayed-waveguide grating geometry with loopback optical fibre paths. A 15channel multiplexing function with a 0.8nm wavelength spacing is experimentally confirmed by using silica-based planar lightwave circuit technology.
