Abstract
The paper presents the modification of the standard laser flash method. In the proposed method the sample front face is subjected to several consecutive laser heat pulses and the thermal diffusivity is calculated from the resulting temperature rise of the rear face. The paper presents the mathematical basis of the flash method with repeated pulses, results of sensitivity analysis as well as the description of the experimental apparatus. Results of thermal diffusivity measurements on standard material-austenitic CrNi steel are presented and compared.
