Abstract
Ag-clad (Tl,V)(Sr,Ba) 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O y tapes were fabricated by a powder-in-tube process. The tapes exhibited no discernible favourable texture. Critical current density (J c ) values at 77 K were <2000 A cm -2 and were strongly influenced by heat treatment temperature and time. Pressing before the final annealing reduced the tape thickness and increased the J c .
