HOW HIGH IS VOTER TURNOUT IN AUSTRALIA AND COULD IT BE INCREASED? LESSONS FOR POLICY MAKERS

This article examines voter turnout in Australia showing that despite compulsory voting turnout rates in Australia are not as high as is often purported. This article then examines ways that voter turnout could be increased in Australia (in particular, among the young) through the use of internationally unique data on attitudes towards voting reforms.
