Abstract
In this paper, a novel pseudo random number (PRN) generator is presented for keystream generation in cryptographic applications. The proposed generator is based on the classical linear feedback shift register (LFSR). The generator maintains the good statistical properties of an LFSR generated maximal length sequence while exhibiting more resistance to cryptanalytic attacks. It has been evaluated with a series of statistical tests for randomness giving excellent results.
